The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Experienced Software Engineer for Phantom Works Open C2 and Autonomy to support our TPSE II Software Development team located in Tukwila, Washington. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality software solutions that meet customer requirements. This role involves close collaboration with the customer, external suppliers, and internal stakeholders, including the Boeing Program Manager and Chief Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in full life cycle software practices and system architecture with the ability to obtain TS/SCI + SAP clearance. Closed area work and travel to customer sites may be required. As a Software Engineer, you will collaborate within the software development team (internal and suppliers), fostering a productive and innovative environment. You will help analyze customer requirements, decompose requirements into actionable tasks, and actively participate in program increment planning and agile ceremonies. Implementing and adhering to agile methodologies will be crucial to ensure efficient and effective software development processes.

  • Designs, develops, tests, and maintains non-embedded software throughout the end-to-end lifecycle that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and translates customer requirements into initial design of software products.
  • Develops, maintains, enhances and optimizes software products and functionalities for systems integrations.
  • Debugs and resolves issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products.
  • Implements current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks and changes in regulations relevant to software development
  • Develops, establishes, monitors and improves software processes, tools and key performance metrics that align projects with organizational goals and industry benchmarks.
  • 5+ years of experience in object-oriented programming languages, such as Java and C++
  • 5+ years of experience in developing software in a cloud-based environment
  • 5+ years of experience in participating in an Agile software development team
  • 5+ years of experience in full life cycle development: requirement analysis, design, development, test, integration
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • Knowledge of host environments, including processors, operating systems and networks.
  • Ability to build, integrate and troubleshoot software components.
  • Knowledge of software programming languages and databases and the ability to apply to the software domain. Programming languages encompass higher order languages, auto-coded languages and assembly languages.
  • Knowledge of how to derive and allocate requirements (e.g., system, sub-system, software) and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of software architecture and design methodologies.
  • Ability to synthesize software architectures and designs that meet requirements, characteristics and constraints.
  • Knowledge of software development processes in compliance with established internal and industry standards, guidelines, and best practices in the development, testing, and deployment of software.
  • Knowledge of domains, characteristics, constraints and products that require software and influence architecture, requirements, interfaces, designs, and integration/test approaches. Domain examples include data processing, ground support, tools and analysis models. Examples of characteristics and constraints that impact software include operating systems, fidelity and information processing capacity. Examples of products include aircraft, missiles, airborne/shipboard/space systems/ground-based support systems.
  • Knowledge of implementation, validation, and verification processes, practices, and guidelines to ensure software development quality, performance, and safety.
