About The Position

Principal is seeking an experienced software engineer within our Retirement & Income Solutions Team! The Revenue Solutions team within RIS is looking for an engineer to work alongside our engineering team and product partners to deliver high-impact business initiatives. This engineer will have the autonomy to shape our technical landscape using cutting-edge technologies and modern development practices including cloud-native architecture and contemporary frameworks. We're seeking someone who can drive technical excellence by both leading by example and by mentoring others. Your experience will be valuable in guiding fellow engineers and influencing technical direction while also contributing to our culture of innovation.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree with a preference in a science, technology, engineering, or math related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of object-oriented or functional programming experience (JAVA and Distributed systems).
  • Strong informal leadership.
  • Experience with Spring or Spring related frameworks.
  • Must have the desire to learn new technology and continuously grow.
  • Ability to work on cross-functional teams and collaborate with both IT and non-IT partners.
  • May be required to provide on-call support.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver customer centric solutions that incorporate desired capabilities, security, scalability, and performance.
  • Work within agile methodology and participate in agile ceremonies.
  • Collaborate with your scrum team to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software.
  • Solve interesting and complex problems to create a positive customer experience.
  • Collaborate with product, architecture, technical engineers, and other roles on application design and architecture.
  • Own continuous improvement in yourself, your team and the solutions you build.
  • Develop maintainable and high-quality software by integrating automation tests and following best practices as laid out by the team.
  • Perform other job-related duties or special projects as required.
