About The Position

The Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) position at SGS, LLC involves overseeing safety protocols on commercial construction projects, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and managing the safety of all personnel on-site. The SSHO will implement safety plans, conduct safety meetings, and interface with various stakeholders to maintain high safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects
• Current OSHA 30-Hour card and CPR/First Aid certifications
• Familiarity with requirements of the EM 385 1-1, 2014 version
• Knowledge and experience in reading and interpreting blueprints
• Ability to assist in performing certain portions of the work and to manage and schedule subcontractors
• Experience with USACE RMS software
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of construction means and methods
• Strong leadership qualities
• Deadline and detail-oriented

Responsibilities

• Implement EM 385-1-1 requirements & SGS's approved Accident Prevention Plan
• Involved in all aspects of construction project from planning to implementation
• Ability to plan for and assign resources as applicable for projects
• Supervise safety of all onsite personnel and subcontractors
• Management/Enforcement of SGS's Safety Program and Security Policies
• Conduct regular safety meetings with trade subcontractors
• Conduct safety orientation for all new employees onsite
• Required to ensure all personnel onsite are equipped with proper PPE
• Interface with project inspectors, contractors, architects, engineers, government officials, etc.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship that adhere to approved plans and specifications
