Final job title and rate of pay will be based upon individual qualifications. The minimum rate of pay for a non-BSN Professional Staff Nurse is $34.25/hour. UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is hiring Experienced Full-Time Professional Staff Nurses for positions within various units including 6A Ortho / Neuro / Trauma, 6B General Thoracic Surgery, 7A Cardiac Acuity Adaptable, 7B Transplant/Intestinal Care, 7C Medical/Surgical, 7D Rehab, 8B Medical/GI, 9A Adolescent Medical/Endocrine, 9B Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and Emergency Department. The unit(s) you are most interested in will be discussed at the time of interview scheduling. All positions will support our Main Campus location in the Lawrenceville neighborhood in the city of Pittsburgh. These positions will work rotating shifts.

Requirements

  • BSN is strongly preferred.
  • If no BSN, enrolled in a BSN program is strongly preferred.
  • Previous Nursing experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to build positive, caring relationships across all levels of staff and with patients/families.
  • Effectively navigate complex environments, shifting priorities and specialized equipment.
  • Strong clinical judgement and critical thinking for patient care and leading nursing processes.
  • Physical and visual stamina required for frequent movement and patient handling.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates accountability for professional development that improves the quality of professional practice and the quality of patient care.
  • Applies the nursing process within the framework of Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of adult learning principles (and/or teaching children if applicable) and applies in teaching of patients, families, students and new staff.
  • Actively participates in department or unit-specific quality improvement efforts.
  • Develops and maintains productive working relationships internally and externally by demonstrating accountability for actions, enthusiasm, motivation, and commitment to patients and colleagues.
