Cleveland Clinic’s J5-1 Cardiovascular Telemetry Unit sees some of the most complex cardiac cases in the world. J5-1, along with J5-3 and J6-2, is dedicated to caring for patients receiving coronary artery bypass surgery, valve repair or replacement, and minimally invasive or off-pump coronary bypass surgery. In addition to the post-operative open heart patient population, this unit also cares for all cardiac related admissions, including Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD/RVAD), and Total Artificial Hearts (TAH). J5-1 also takes patients that are actively weaning from ventilator support.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• One year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider military RN experience.

• Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and their families.
