About The Position

Geisinger Medical Center Danville is proud to offer Experienced Per Diem Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapists (CRT) up to $30.40 in minimum hourly base pay, and up to an additional $5.50 in shift differential pay. Float premiums will be offered to individuals with specific experience. The position involves assessing patients' respiratory care needs, planning and performing treatment modalities, and ensuring optimal patient/family experiences. Responsibilities include performing thorough patient assessments, establishing care plans, and communicating with the patient care team. The role also involves managing mechanical ventilators, providing patient education, and assisting in intra-hospital transport of patients. The therapist will adhere to regulatory requirements and safety standards, maintain patient confidentiality, and function as a preceptor for orientees and students.

Requirements

  • Graduate from Specialty Training Program.
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Licensed Respiratory Therapist.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients' respiratory care needs based on a variety of data.
  • Plan, organize, perform, and evaluate treatment modalities.
  • Ensure the best patient/family experience by optimizing customer interaction.
  • Perform and document thorough patient assessments.
  • Establish appropriate care plans.
  • Communicate with other members of the patient care team.
  • Perform routine therapeutic modalities including aerosolized medications and oxygen therapy.
  • Initiate and manage mechanical ventilators according to established protocol.
  • Provide age-specific patient and family education related to disease management.
  • Assist in intra-hospital transport of mechanically ventilated patients.
  • Manage acute airway situations in emergencies.
  • Set up and manage non-invasive monitoring.
  • Assist with discharge planning for patients needing respiratory related DME supplies.
  • Adhere to regulatory requirements and safety standards.
  • Collect arterial blood gas samples and process through point of care blood analyzers.
  • Function as the Shift Coordinator when designated.
  • Assist the medical team in fiberoptic bronchoscopy procedures.
  • Function as a preceptor for orientees and students.
