About The Position

The Rotating Equipment, Vibration, Dynamics (REVD) mechanical engineer resolves piping, machinery, and structural problems at oil/gas and petrochemical industrial facilities to improve structural reliability and eliminate fatigue concerns. This includes field acquisition and analysis of vibration data, determination of root cause of vibration problems, and developing vibration control methods to reduce vibration levels. This position requires high competence in use of the following vibration analysis tools: data acquisitions systems, accelerometers, pressure transducers, microphones, strain gages, modal testing, operating deflection shapes, and motion amplification. The analytical tools utilized in this position includes hand calculations and advanced modal and stress analysis using FEA. The analytical methods include acceptability evaluations, fatigue methods, and stress methods using the API 579 Fitness for Service Code, ASME Section VIII Division 2 Design by Analysis Requirements, ASME B31.3 Process Piping, and other API machine standards. This position is estimated to travel on average of 25% of the time, however more travel could become available depending on client needs. REPORTS TO: REVD Consulting Group Head
