About The Position

The Experienced Mammo Tech will independently perform all mammographic procedures utilizing proper techniques and administration of contrast media. This role works under their scope of practice and in accordance with certificate/licensure in the administration of medications, operation of equipment, and venipuncture. The tech will coordinate patient flow and the activities in the mammography department, exercising professional judgment to maintain equipment in good working condition. The position may also involve performing procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Allied Health with a major in Radiologic Technology.
  • Completed all mammography courses required for registry.
  • CPR Certification required.
  • ARRT RT (R) registry required.
  • ARRT RT (M) registry required within 6 months.
  • ODH licensure required.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience or additional training in specialized field of Mammography.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mammographic procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols and evaluate images for technical quality.
  • Obtain clinical history and data for correlation with the mammography procedure.
  • Implement screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed mammography policies/procedures and perform daily and weekly QC as required.
  • Practice sterile techniques during biopsy procedures.
  • Assist Radiologist in special procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations.
  • Coordinate patient care with other areas to optimize patient time and satisfaction.
  • Assess learning needs and educate patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs, thoroughly educating patients about the exam.
  • Ensure that all records, files, and reports are properly recorded as required, perform clerical duties when necessary, and verify a signed physician order is received and corresponds with the billed procedure.
  • Maintain knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency equipment in the unit.
  • Follow radiation safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties or functions to meet patient, departmental, or organizational needs.
