About The Position

Babbitting Service Inc. (BSI) is seeking a Facility Service / Maintenance Technician to join their team at the South Elgin headquarters. This role involves hands-on maintenance and repair of machinery, tools, and building facilities, ensuring the operational efficiency of the shop and office environment. The technician will also be responsible for preventive maintenance, maintaining records, and coordinating with outside contractors as needed.

Requirements

• Experience in manufacture/job shop, machine repair, material handling, preventative maintenance, automotive repair, or related experience.
• Ability to drive a forklift (training provided as needed).
• Basic understanding of blueprint and schematic diagrams.
• Able to use basic tools for the repair and maintenance of all shop equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of work throughout the facility including repair of machinery, tools, shop floor equipment, and various building maintenance.
• Perform and coordinate established preventive maintenance for various equipment as needed.
• Establish and maintain maintenance records.
• Perform intermediate repairs on BSI equipment as scheduled by the Maintenance Manager.
• Change oils and coolants in all machinery.
• Use knowledge from Hazmat training to keep the shop environment clean and safe.
• Coordinate cleaning duties throughout the shop and office.
