About The Position

Ingram Marine Group is a leading carrier involved in transporting bulk commodities on America's inland waterways, delivering fuel and supplies to the towing industry, and providing a ship anchorage in Louisiana. The company operates a fleet of barges that transport various products including aggregates, grain, fertilizer, coal, ores, alloys, steel products, and chemicals. Ingram Marine Group is seeking experienced deckhands for their Line haul/Fleet operations. Associates may be assigned to any river segment or vessel type based on company needs and are responsible for their own transportation to and from their hitches.

• Must be able to obtain required Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card
• Pass a post-offer process if an offer is made (background check, drug screen, physical)
• Be able to lift and carry up to 110 pounds for up to 1000 feet
• Be able to work in confined spaces often entered through a manhole
• Be able to climb a ladder and able to board and ride in a skiff

Responsibilities

• Assisting deck crew in tow building (laying wires, tighten ratchets, sweep and shovel barges)
• Daily vessel housekeeping (sweeping, mopping and cleaning crew living quarters)
• Assisting with locking
• Carrying rigging (ratchets, wires and straps) pumps, hoses and lines
• Working outdoors for extended periods of time in weather conditions such as heat/cold & rain/snow
• Checking barges for water and leaks – which at times requires climbing into confined spaces
• Upkeep of vessel appearance includes sooging (washing), chipping and painting
• Assisting the Engineer as requested
• Practicing safe crew, vessel and tow operation using Ingram safety systems
• Participating in safety drills and audits
• Performing other related duties as assigned or requested
