About The Position

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Geotechnical/Geostructural Engineer to join our geostructural and geotechnical practice in our Acton, MA, Chicago or Oak Brook, IL office. The opportunity to work a hybrid work schedule may be available at the discretion of the Company. This position is well-suited for a talented, highly experienced individual who is interested in being a leader and contributing to innovative and challenging projects involving environmental remediation, waterfront infrastructure development, dams and levees, industrial facilities, linear water delivery and plant infrastructure. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field. (required)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E. ) (required) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • At least 7 years (8+ preferred) directly relevant experience in a consulting or other design role environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Knowledge of relevant geotechnical engineering software (e.g., slope stability). (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Field work and overnight travel may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in geotechnical engineering or a related field. (preferred)
  • Knowledge of numerical modeling tools. (preferred)
  • Current OSHA 30-hr training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Geotechnical and geostructural engineering design analyses such as deep and shallow foundations, earth retaining structures, ground modification, slope stability, settlement, seismic, and seepage
  • Geotechnical site characterization
  • Development and management of instrumentation monitoring systems and construction data
  • Project/task management and proposal preparation support
  • Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and permit applications
  • Fieldwork associated with design and construction services.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
