About The Position

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, requiring three days a week in the office and two days remotely. The position involves analyzing power projects, distilling technical concepts into actionable conclusions and recommendations for project stakeholders to develop, design, construct, operate, and finance energy projects in the United States and overseas. You will work with multi-discipline project teams to advise developers on new utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage, thermal, and other projects, evaluate new power and infrastructure projects for financing, model economic, technical, and market scenarios for grid operators, utilities, and research agencies, and develop planning studies and business cases for various energy sector entities. Furthermore, this role expects individuals to lead others in utilizing modern tools like automation and AI to enhance workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs. This includes directing process-improvement work, automating calculations, summarizing technical documents, generating design documentation, and guiding the appropriate use of AI or agentic AI tools while ensuring result verification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical and/or civil/structural engineering
  • At least 5 years of relative experience
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work with and guide others
  • Project planning, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Decision making and judgement
  • Willingness or ability to lead others who use modern tools (automation and AI)

  • Master’s degree in an engineering discipline or business (e.g., MBA)
  • Experience working on power or transmission projects
  • Relevant coursework/experience pertaining to technical report writing
  • Relevant coursework/experience pertaining to multi-discipline teamwork (i.e. design projects, co-ops)
  • Relevant coursework/experience pertaining to data analysis and visualization

  • Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that enables effective oversight of automation and agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows

Responsibilities

  • Advise power project developers to support new utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage, thermal, and other projects
  • Evaluate new power and infrastructure projects independently to support financing
  • Model economic, technical, and market scenarios for grid operators, utilities, and research agencies
  • Develop planning studies and business cases for utilities, power producers, and government agencies
  • Lead others in taking engineering problems from issue to solution by setting expectations for using data and modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs
  • Direct automation and process-improvement work, for example, how teams automate calculations, summarize technical documents, or generate design documentation
  • Guide when and how AI or agentic AI tools are used while ensuring results are checked
