Requirements

  • 0-3 years of experience in an Electrical Engineering role
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) License (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or related degree
  • Understanding of National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code, IEEE and ANSI Standards
  • Understanding or willing to learn, the NEC 2020 and IEEE standards and keep up with emerging technologies
  • General understanding of engineering and energy systems

Nice To Haves

  • PSCAD, PSS/E, ETAP, WinIGS, or CDEGS experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the review and verification of substation as-built drawings, including physical layouts and protection and control schematics.
  • Support field investigations at new and existing substation sites, documenting equipment conditions, grounding connections, and routing paths.
  • Help set up design models and drawing packages using AutoCAD, MicroStation, or BIM tools
  • Collaborate with engineers across physical, civil/structural, and protection disciplines on project coordination, schedules, and technical deliverables.
  • Assist with feasibility and conceptual design studies, including site assessments and preliminary equipment sizing.
  • Support development of preliminary substation designs such as one-line diagrams, protection schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment layouts.
  • Contribute to engineering tasks for AC/DC station service systems, battery sizing, and equipment specification development.
  • Assist with short-circuit, arc-flash, grounding, and protection coordination studies using engineering analysis tools (ETAP, SKM, ASPEN).
  • Participate in the preparation of detailed construction drawing packages including plan and elevation views, conduit routing, cable schedules, and grounding grid layouts.
  • This is an in-office role
