About The Position

Cadmus is seeking an experienced part-time Drinking Water/Wastewater Engineer to provide technical assistance to public water systems and wastewater utilities. The role involves approximately 20 hours of work per week, focusing on compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and Clean Water Act (CWA). The successful candidate will work both onsite and remotely, utilizing their expertise to support utilities and improve public health, particularly in small, rural communities.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree with coursework in engineering, public health, environmental science and policy, or another relevant area and at least 8 years relevant work experience OR a Bachelor's degree and at least 10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with Safe Drinking Water Act and/or Clean Water Act regulatory programs.
  • Understanding of PFAS contamination and treatment; lead in drinking water and corrosion control treatment; and/or drinking water laboratories and analytical methods.
  • Experience with SDWA and/or CWA regulatory programs.
  • Certification as a water and/or wastewater operator is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing environments, and work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States as a U.S Perm Resident or U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a security clearance if required.
  • Candidate must be willing and able to travel for field work as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with tribal utilities and/or conducting sanitary surveys.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in support of technical assistance to drinking water and wastewater utilities, regulatory program implementation oversight activities, and guidance development.
  • Conduct Sanitary Surveys at water systems.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and sound judgment in interactions with clients and colleagues.
  • Lead the development of client-ready products.
  • Be responsible for project reporting.
  • Direct interaction with clients, utilities, and state representatives including effective delivery of presentations, leading discussions, and conducting on-site visits (as needed) in support of technical assistance provided to diverse communities.
  • Demonstrate successful task prioritization and management skills.
  • Demonstrate quality assurance and quality control of products.
  • Conduct effective research and analysis.
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communications.
  • Ensure outcomes that satisfy client requirements (i.e., accomplishment of required deliverables on time and ensuring client satisfaction).
