The Deckhand is responsible for the overall safety of the towing vessel and aiding in the safety of all coworkers. This role involves informing the Master-on-Duty of any unsafe or hazardous conditions on the vessel and reporting any hazardous conditions while making corrections when able. The Deckhand will also be responsible for making and breaking tow for customer vessels and other EMS boats, picking up and delivering barges to and from customer docks, and performing lookout duties during high-risk maneuvers. Daily responsibilities include operating winches, handling lines, performing maintenance on critical systems, and conducting safety inspections of equipment and vessel structure. The Deckhand will also assist in training new hires and participate in safety drills and meetings.
