About The Position

The Experienced Clinical Nurse on the G11 Hospital Medicine Unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating, and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes, and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in nursing, an RN license and at least twelve months of recent RN experience in an acute care setting. This unit has openings for 7am-7pm and 7pm-7am with rotating weekends and holidays required. A 30-bed inpatient unit providing care to adult medical oncology inpatients with a diagnosis of solid tumor malignancies; primary services include genitourinary, breast, and internal medicine. Patients require nursing interventions for the management of chronic and acute disease related symptoms, pain control, treatment related side effects; chemotherapy and biotherapy administration: patient and family teaching. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire and Required
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support If working in the following department: Nrsg Post Anesthesia Care Unit (600160).
  • All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.

  • OCN - Oncology Nurse Certification Upon Hire Preferred
  • Certification in specialty practice area.
