Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of professional caregiving experience
  • Valid California Home Care Aide (HCA) Registration
  • Current CPR certification
  • TB test within the last 2 years showing negative results
  • Valid Drivers License and experience lifting wheelchairs and walkers into car
  • Must be comfortable driving clients to doctors appointments, and more as needed
  • Strong communication, observation, and documentation skills
  • Must be dependable, compassionate, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Must take feedback well
  • Reliable transportation and flexible availability (able to take on urgent shifts, occasional weekend shifts, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Help with personal care: bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting (if you have the skills)
  • Assist clients with walking, bathing, and dressing by standing nearby for support
  • Help move clients safely using gait belts and other tools (if you have the skills)
  • Care for clients who stay in bed, including repositioning, hygiene, incontinence, and skin care (if you have the skills)
  • Help prepare meals, cook, and understand diet needs
  • Follow care plans and keep track of any health changes
  • Provide companionship and emotional support
  • Communicate well with clients, their families, and healthcare teams
  • Care for clients in hospice settings (experience is helpful)
  • Do light housekeeping tasks
