About The Position

As Experience Design Manager at NewDealDesign, you will direct projects, mentor designers, and deliver high-caliber design work that shapes project outcomes and supports business goals. This leadership position combines hands-on design excellence with team management, client engagement, and strategic direction. You will report to the Director of Experience Design & Strategy Design. Experience Design at NewDealDesign is tightly integrated with our Strategy Design discipline. Our work spans digital interfaces, physical products, services, and long-term product vision. This role demands versatility across these domains, leading both design work and teams. This is an entirely onsite role. We believe a vibrant studio culture, rapid exchange, and the hands-on mentorship this position requires thrive best in person.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of experience in interaction design or a related field. Minimum 2 years in a senior or lead role with project leadership. Studio environment and designer management or mentorship experience required.
  • Expertly design intuitive interactions for digital and physical experiences. Build information architectures, wireframes, user flows, journey maps, personas, and scenarios. Establish and evolve design systems. Display acute visual sensitivity with layout, color, typography, and UI elements. Demonstrate strong prototyping skills in 2D, motion, and interactive formats.
  • Communicate clearly in writing, presentations, and speech. Convincingly articulate design rationale to clients and stakeholders. Model a proactive attitude, reliability, and resilience. Exemplify professionalism and personal conduct suited to a business setting.
  • Demonstrate expertise with Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and tools such as Cursor, Framer, or Webflow. Tell compelling stories with Keynote, PowerPoint, and storyboarding.

Nice To Haves

  • Motion graphics and proficiency in After Effects are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design Leadership - Direct experience in designing for multiple projects from concept to delivery. Champion design excellence while fostering diversity and progressive thinking. Create and evolve design languages and systems for digital and physical touchpoints. Develop presentations that showcase innovation and a distinct perspective.
  • Team Management- Coordinate team schedules and resources to maximize efficiency and clear communication. Recognize designers’ strengths and target growth opportunities. Challenge designers to expand their skills. Define and sustain a design process with clear schedules, deliverables, and milestones.
  • Client Engagement - Advocate for strong design with client stakeholders at various levels. Guide client expectations and pinpoint new opportunities. Oversee multiple design directions internally and with clients. Scope work for diverse projects, develop timelines, and define deliverables and processes.
  • Strategic Contribution - Grasp the digital economy, business models, and their relevance to clients. Exhibit business acumen by addressing client strategy: go-to-market ideas, investment, competition, and challenges. Integrate NDD values into progressive design with broad social impact and a strong point of view.
