About The Position

Purpose of Position: A restaurant expeditor is a food establishment employee who acts as a link between food preparation staff and service staff. They coordinate food orders, preparation and delivery to ensure the prompt and correct filling of orders. They also inspect the dishes to confirm that they comply with restaurant food quality standards. They may work in large or fine-dining restaurants, or in fast-food establishments where they also fill drinks, wrap sandwiches and other food items. They help to maintain the efficiency of a restaurant kitchen and the flow of items from the kitchen to the table. Support the operation to deliver Superior Guest Service by delivering food/beverages to guests and promptly.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, speak and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to apply reasonable understanding in carrying out instructions in written, oral or diagram form.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively communicate information individually and in small group situations to customers and co‑workers.
  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand during 6-8hr shift, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Reaches, bends, stoops, shakes, stirs and wipes.
  • The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must be able to hear well amongst loud background noise.
  • Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds of cases several times per shift and carries up one flight of stairs.
  • May experience frequent immersion of hands in hot water (every 5 minutes).

Responsibilities

  • Help maintain safety in the kitchen by clearing spills promptly. Keep the wash area clean and organized.
  • Deliver food to guests in a timely manner adhering to all company standards.
  • Perform cleaning duties.
  • Follows safe food handling and proper hygiene practices.
  • Adheres to workplace safety standards for operating and maintaining equipment and reports any equipment malfunction to management immediately.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinates the delivery of all food items within appropriate time standards.
  • Makes certain that every food item is accounted for.
  • Follows management's instructions and suggestions.
