About The Position

The Expedition Equipment Specialist at Lindblad Expeditions is responsible for maintaining, distributing, purchasing, and inventorying all expedition equipment on board the vessels. This role ensures that the company stays updated on current and new expedition technologies, facilitating the delivery of world-class experiences to guests. The specialist acts as a liaison between field staff and various departments, ensuring timely processing of equipment requests and maintaining an organized inventory system.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience creating, managing, and maintaining inventories.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently across a remote team in multiple time zones.
  • Strong attention to detail in communications and tracking methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and SharePoint.
  • Prior experience researching topics for fiscally responsible purchasing decisions.
  • Ability to manage schedule and shifting priorities.
  • Must be able to work onsite in Seattle warehouse 1-2 days per week.

  • Experience in the Expedition ship industry.
  • Experience with service, repair, and disposal of expedition equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a fleet-wide inventory and maintenance program for all expedition equipment.
  • Research makes, models, and suppliers for expedition equipment, balancing quality with cost.
  • Facilitate service, repair, and disposal of expedition equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain and organize the Field Staff Department space at LEX-DC.
  • Ensure ships are stocked with all required expedition equipment prior to the start of each season.
  • Communicate upgrades or changes to expedition-related equipment to Field Staff.
  • Identify efficiencies in gear maintenance and requisition systems.
  • Receive, approve, and provide all expedition orders and requisitions to purchasing.
  • Track expedition equipment expenditures and communicate with office and shipboard teams.
  • Work with IT and Purchasing Departments to ensure charter ships have required IT equipment and supplies.
  • Coordinate delivery of last-minute expedition-related items to vessels.
  • Liaise with managers to order, maintain, and monitor inventory of weapons and bear sprays.
  • Assist on special projects as directed.
