About The Position

The EFDA plays an important clinical role in supporting the dentist during procedures and performing expanded duties within the state’s scope of practice. This position requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing an excellent patient experience.

Requirements

Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification required
Dental radiography certification required
Minimum 1 year of dental assisting experience preferred
Strong clinical skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and patient care skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

DANB certification preferred depending on state requirements

Responsibilities

Assist the dentist during a variety of general dentistry procedures
Prepare treatment rooms and instruments for patient care
Ensure proper sterilization and infection control protocols are followed
Take dental radiographs in accordance with state guidelines
Place and contour restorative materials under the supervision of the dentist
Perform coronal polishing and apply sealants as permitted by state regulations
Take impressions and assist with fabrication of temporary restorations
Assist with crown preparations and restorative procedures
Ensure restorations meet quality and esthetic standards
Provide a welcoming and comfortable experience for patients
Educate patients on treatment procedures and post-operative care
Maintain clear communication with the clinical team to support efficient workflow
Work closely with dentists, hygienists, and administrative team members
Support a positive, team-oriented office culture
Help maintain organization and cleanliness of clinical areas
