Expanded Duty Dental Assistant As an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant, you will uphold our Mission, Vision, and Values. In this position you perform a variety of patient care activities to provide clinical support and assistance to dentists. Assists in the delivery of dental care and patient care management. This role is located in Muncie, Indiana at our 333 S. Madison St. clinic. The schedule for this role is Tuesday through Friday, 7:30a to 4:30p. Responsibilities (How this position enhances our Mission, Vision, and Values): Mission – Improve the Quality of Life of Others: Places and completes restoration specified by the dentist. Assist patients in-patient flow through the clinic and escorts patients to operatory rooms. Obtains preliminary dental history and prepares patients for dentist’s complete examination. Assists dentist hygienist with minor diagnostic procedures and treatments as directed. Takes radiographs upon proof of certification. Collects and prepares the biohazard material for removal.Checks appointment schedule with providers’ patient’s schedules, assist billing staff as requested. Run lines, scrub sinks. Taking and pouring models, trimming. Performs related work as required and other duties as assigned by Chief Dental Officer or CEO. Vision – ODHS preferred partner in East Central Indiana for improving the well-being of individuals and the communities in which they live: Ensures that lab reports, x-rays and other information is in patient’s records. Prepare operatories, instruments and tray set ups for patient examination. Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies in all exam areas. Identifies, analyzes and resolves patient flow issues. Write up lab papers and send off materials. Sterilize/disinfect every room after patients. Files, schedules patients (when requested), write up charts and go through files. Follows infection control guidelines and ensures adherence OSHA and CLIA protocols due to potential exposure to blood and body fluids. Participates in the development and implementation of clinical guidelines. Maintains patient confidentiality. Attends and participates in meetings and in-services as required. Serves on committees as requested. Comply with all agency policies and procedures concerning corporate compliance including privacy of protected health/dental information. Offer any support to the hygienist as time allows.
