About The Position

This position is for an Exercise Specialist at Saint Francis, a Catholic, not-for-profit Health system based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Saint Francis is the largest private employer in Eastern Oklahoma with over 12,000 employees, including 1,000 physicians. The health system is anchored by the 1,112-bed Saint Francis Hospital, the largest hospital in Oklahoma and the 11th largest in the nation. The system also includes hospitals in south Tulsa, Muskogee and Vinita, as well as 110 Warren Clinic locations, northeastern Oklahoma's only children's hospital, a level IV neonatal intensive care unit, a 168-bed heart hospital, and Tulsa's leading trauma and emergency center. The Exercise Specialist will be providing stress tests of all varieties accepted in current clinical practice under physician and RN supervision, including Holter Monitor hookup. The role involves utilizing knowledge of exercise science to assess and assist patients undergoing diagnostic testing, procedures, or using various exercise modalities specific to department services. It also includes reporting medical symptoms, performing patient education, developing educational materials, teaching classes, documenting data, assisting with equipment maintenance, and supporting unit/hospital goals. The position is part-time, day shift, M/W/F 8am-430pm, located at the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation - Muskogee Campus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or relevant field.
  • 0 - 6 months related experience.
  • Ability to complete dysrhythmia class.
  • Ability to respond to situations such as medical emergencies calmly and efficiently.
  • Ability to prioritize workflow and adjust as needed.
  • Ability to utilize PC and software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform ECG skills and work with patients.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • ACSM Certification and other job related Exercise Science certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Providing stress tests of all varieties accepted in current clinical practice under physician and RN supervision including holter Monitor hookup.
  • Utilize knowledge of exercise science to assess and assist patients undergoing diagnostic testing, procedures or using various exercise modalities specific to department services.
  • Report medical symptoms to registered nurse or designated licensed healthcare provider.
  • Perform appropriate patient education utilizing best practice and current exercise science guidelines.
  • Develop materials to enhance patient education, teach individual and/or group classes when required.
  • Document or record data on equipment utilized in providing patient care services.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance as directed.
  • Support unit/hospital goals by attending inservices, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports.
