About The Position

The Exercise Specialist is responsible for assessing, designing, and delivering evidence-based fitness and injury-prevention programs that support cardiovascular health, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, body composition, and overall physical function. This role serves ARUP employees, spouses, and dependents, and contributes to a culture of safety, wellness, and performance across the organization. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or better in Exercise and Sport Science.
  • Master's Degree or better in Exercise and Sport Science.
  • CPR Certification
  • Personal Trainer

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive fitness and movement assessments to identify individual needs, goals, and health considerations.
  • Design and implement personalized exercise programs tailored to participant abilities, medical history, and health objectives.
  • Educate patients on proper exercise technique, biomechanics, and safe movement execution.
  • Monitor progress and modify programming to optimize outcomes, reduce injury risk, and improve proprioception.
  • Lead small-group exercise sessions, injury-prevention workshops, and functional movement programs.
  • Provide outreach and education to departments to support workplace safety and reduce musculoskeletal injury risk, including but no limited to- workout of the week.
  • Develop exercise-based protocols, curriculum, and resources focused on therapeutic exercise, injury prevention, and worksite safety under the supervision of the Exercise Physiologist.
  • Manage fitness assessments, data collection, and analysis for the Security Department.
  • Support equipment selection, maintenance, and safety for on-campus fitness facilities.
  • Audit ARUP fitness facilities to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and maintenance standards.
  • Innovate and enhance exercise programming, testing methods, online resource library, and operational procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of musculoskeletal injury prevention, emergency response procedures, and professional standards of practice.
  • Collaborate with the Wellness Supervisor to support referrals for physical therapy, workers' compensation cases, and provider-directed care.
  • Assist with additional Health and Wellness initiatives and programming as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
