The Exercise Program Coordinator at the Weight Management Center is responsible for implementing and overseeing exercise programs for overweight and obese patients. This role involves developing multi-disciplinary treatment plans, collaborating with healthcare professionals, and ensuring the quality and effectiveness of exercise programming. The coordinator works independently to create exercise prescriptions tailored to various clinical populations, contributing to patient care and health outcomes.

  • Lead the planning, development, promotion, and evaluation of exercise programming content and standards.
  • Collaborate with medical and surgical program coordinators to design and implement exercise components of curriculum.
  • Assess program quality and outcome data, including adherence rates and clinical outcomes.
  • Report key exercise program metrics such as patient training volumes and group exercise attendance.
  • Ensure continuity of communication regarding exercise among all medical and surgical team members.
  • Implement program changes for all exercise programming at the site.
  • Coordinate group and individual exercise programs, ensuring all patients are assigned an exercise trainer.
  • Manage external referrals for personal training and collaborate with community fitness centers.
  • Oversee the fitness center to ensure patient safety and proper equipment maintenance.
  • Educate patients about exercise program components and the role of physical activity in managing health conditions.
  • Provide guidance in proper exercise techniques and variations based on patient capabilities.
  • Attend meetings regarding medical and surgical patients and contribute to departmental goals.
  • Participate in community outreach to promote the Weight Management Center.
  • Bachelor's degree in Health and Exercise Science or a related field.
  • Three years of progressive relevant clinical experience.
  • Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist by the American College of Sports Medicine.
  • CPR certification.
  • Master's degree in Health and Exercise Science or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in delivering physical activity programs to diverse populations with varying capabilities.
