About The Position

As our Exercise Physiologist, you will provide direct, safe, and best-practice driven care primarily in cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation, collaborating extensively with a multi-disciplinary team, cardiologists, and various hospital staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Every day you will establish and update individualized exercise prescriptions, orient patients to equipment and safety protocols, and conduct functional fitness testing and body composition analysis. You will provide essential patient and family education, supervise and monitor exercise sessions, meticulously document and maintain current clinical data and program records, adjusting treatment plans as appropriate. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a deep understanding of patient needs, consistently working collaboratively in a diverse and multicultural environment. You will effectively partner with physicians and clinical staff in goal-setting, consistently utilizing work practices aligned with safety, security, and infection control policies, all while actively contributing to a positive quality work environment. Ensures a professional and responsive atmosphere by greeting patients, visitors, staff, and physicians promptly and courteously. Refers to each individual by name when appropriate. Screens individuals by requesting to see identification or visitor pass. Assists in exercise/treatment of patients as directed by therapist/nurse and under the direct supervision of the therapist/nurse. Clearly communicates and documents vital information to the therapist/nurse regarding progression, complications, concerns, etc. Assists PT/RN in exercise prescription of individual patients. Assists patient in exercise setup (i.e., electrode placement, blood pressure, heart rate), equipment setup, and assists patient on/off equipment as needed. Monitors patients' physiological response to exercise (i.e., heart rate, blood pressure RPE scale, exercise tolerance, rhythm interpretation, and signs and symptoms).

Requirements

  • Bachelors
  • Bachelor's degree in exercise physiology, kinesiology or related field or equivalent experience in a cardiac rehabilitation setting required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire

Nice To Haves

  • Masters
  • Master's degree in rehabilitation exercise physiology or related field
  • Experience and training equivalent to those specified for an Exercise Test Specialist by the American College of Sports Medicine
  • Direct experience in exercise program planning, supervising and counseling with cardiovascular rehab patients in a cardiac rehab program
