About The Position

The position involves providing all aspects of phases I - III cardiac rehabilitation. Under general direction, the individual will develop, implement, and evaluate exercise prescriptions and exercise sessions for all phases of cardio/pulmonary rehab as well as other chronic illnesses. The role includes creating educational materials and providing education to both cardio/pulmonary patients and other patients referred to the cardiac rehab program. Additionally, the individual will plan and participate in special patient events, writing/research endeavors, professional conferences, the student internship program, specialized programmatic service lines (such as Cardiovascular Performance Clinic, cardiac rehab referral intake, cardiac rehabilitation marketing, etc.), and/or departmental improvement initiatives related to the department. The candidate must be extremely knowledgeable of cardiac risk factors and provide all aspects of care management to Phase II patients in an effective, timely, and inspirational manner. The role also includes supervising cardiovascular stress tests for individuals with and without chronic disease to obtain reliable and valid data, as well as providing other services such as Enhanced External Counterpulsation (EECP) and holter and event monitor placement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in exercise science or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • ECG interpretation experience required.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience or successful completion of a 600-hour clinical internship in the cardiac rehab setting.
  • Current BLS Certification required; Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred.
  • ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist or AACVPR Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional within one year of employment.
