About The Position

The position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or a related field, along with current BLS certification. The role involves working with individuals, particularly those with chronic illnesses, to design and implement exercise programs that promote cardiovascular fitness, functional strength, muscle endurance, and balance. The candidate will be responsible for monitoring vital measurements, maintaining documentation of participant progress, and conducting group exercise sessions. The position also includes community engagement through wellness workshops and lectures, as well as collaboration with other departments to enhance patient care. The job demands flexibility, organization, and the ability to function under stress, while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or related field required.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • 1-3 months related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Experience with Parkinson's Disease and/or boxing fitness is a bonus.

Nice To Haves

  • Personal training or other pertinent certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Be knowledgeable of wellness assessment equipment and cardio/strength training equipment.
  • Maintain reliable and punctual attendance and wear identification while on duty.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information including patient, customer, employee, and business information.
  • Complete work within designated time and facilitate communication and positive team dynamics.
  • Exhibit positive, professional conduct through verbal and non-verbal communication.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and organization under stressful conditions.
  • Use knowledge of chronic illnesses to determine appropriate exercise programs for participants.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of risk stratification and exercise prescription for special populations.
  • Design and implement progressive exercise programming focused on various fitness aspects.
  • Provide ongoing motivation and support to participants to encourage adherence to exercise prescriptions.
  • Monitor and interpret vital measurements pre, intra, and post exercise for participants.
  • Maintain documentation of participant progress and encourage communication with healthcare providers.
  • Conduct ongoing drop-in group exercise sessions with safety considerations.
  • Consult with other departments to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.
  • Schedule participant appointments and manage program payments.
  • Oversee maintenance and scheduling for group exercise classes.
  • Participate in and/or lead community-based programs as directed.
  • Develop, organize, and implement wellness workshops and community lectures.
  • Write articles for the Wellness Corner in the employee newsletter.
  • Work with marketing to increase wellness program participation.
  • Treat all staff, participants, patients, and their families with respect and dignity.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities for the department and organization.
  • Meet documentation standards and policies.
  • Participate in educational and performance-improvement in-services.
  • Assist with orientation and training for certified staff members.
  • Participate in infection control and safety programs.
  • Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in the department.
  • Participate as a team member and be accountable for work responsibilities.
  • Serve and support internal and external customers including peers and physicians.
  • Foster relationships with peers to meet customer needs.
  • Assist team members in problem solving.
