About The Position

To facilitate healthier outcomes for not only cardiopulmonary patients but also others by offering fitness and health-related programs. Evaluate and execute an exercise plan for each patient regardless of diagnosis while focusing on risk reduction, behavior intervention, and modification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in a health-related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience.
  • BLS and ACLS certified.
  • ACSM - Exercise Physiologist or AACVPR- Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional.

  • Master's in a health-related field

Responsibilities

  • Provides fitness evaluations and exercise prescriptions to patients
  • Monitors the progress of the individual during the patient's enrollment period
  • Provides fitness and health-related educational sessions for patients
  • Skillfully utilize and maintain specialized equipment, devices, and computer programs
  • Ability to communicate knowledge and experiences in the related field
  • Ability to educate and motivate patients, tailoring specific goals to meet patients' needs
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and listening skills
  • Organizes and implements other programs that offer educational and practical information on nutrition and exercise.
  • Identifies appropriate internal controls for department; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members-working closely with physicians, nurses, and therapists to modify the patient's plan of care
  • Exercise testing/prescription while monitoring resting/ exercise heart rate, blood pressures, oxygen saturation, and EKG as needed.
  • Fitness testing/exercise prescription as needed.
  • Knowledge of exercise physiology and activity progression for fitness and outcome-oriented goals
  • Performs educational guidance for risk factor management of patients
  • Ability to work well in an interdisciplinary team and interact with a variety of patients
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal
  • Assists in the development and expansion of exercise planning for patients at risk to include risk reduction, behavior intervention, and modification
  • Provides educational sessions and/or teaching on fitness and health-related topics to special interest groups, conferences, students, etc.
  • Provides an annual case study or journal article to peers
  • Provides training to ancillary or nursing departments as requested
  • Participates in community programs with the hospital or organizations
  • Participates and assists with implementation and data gathering for quality assurance projects
  • Participates in the training and mentoring of entry-level exercise physiologists
