About The Position

The Exercise Interventionist will play a key role in delivering and supporting the implementation of the FIT-ADSMART clinical trial, which examines the effects of physical activity on cognitive and physical health in older adults experiencing memory concerns. The interventionist will lead individualized or small-group exercise sessions with participants aged 65 and older, monitor progress, ensure safety, and provide encouragement to promote adherence to the intervention protocol. Salary : $21.20 - $26.46 per hour, DOE.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and two-years (2) experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Prior clinical experience working with older adults with cognitive impairment and dementia.
  • Proficiency with computer skills such as word processing and spread sheet programs (ex. Microsoft Office), and REDCap.
  • Prior research experience including clinical trials research involving direct patient contact, recruitment, scheduling study visits, and delivering treatments to participants.

Responsibilities

  • Assess intervention session prescription accuracy.
  • Set up transportation participants to exercise facilities, as needed.
  • Provide individualized exercise training to study participants according to the session prescription.
  • Monitor and assess participant’s exercise responses and adjust accordingly.
  • Assess and report protocol deviations and violations and adverse events.
  • Coordinate care in case of emergency and follow up.
  • Meticulously document all aspects of activity delivery in REDCap.
  • Work closely with the study coordinator to conduct participant screening and advance them through screening timely to prevent loss of interest by potential participants.
  • Use an ASU or personal vehicle to travel to different campuses.
  • Administer standardized assessments and interventions according to established study protocols.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain calendar for project.
