About the position

The Executive Team Leader GM Sales (Assistant Manager General Merchandise) at Target is responsible for driving total store sales and managing a team that ensures operational efficiency in the General Merchandise areas. This role focuses on creating a guest-obsessed culture, leading a team to meet sales goals, and managing various operational processes including inventory accuracy and fulfillment. The position requires strong leadership skills, business acumen, and the ability to develop and coach team members.

Responsibilities

  • Drive total store sales and understand the role in sales growth.
  • Manage a team executing inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing processes.
  • Lead a team of experts in operations, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Enable efficient delivery to guests by leading pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work.
  • Create a guest-obsessed culture and prioritize the guest experience.
  • Develop strategies and utilize workload planning tools to ensure readiness.
  • Create scheduling plans based on business workload and guest traffic.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with the team to ensure task completion.
  • Manage GM backroom and sales floor areas, reviewing reporting to identify gaps.
  • Oversee Team Leaders' workload planning and sales plans for GM areas.
  • Drive fulfillment sales by leading the Fulfillment team to meet guest promises.
  • Assess competition and leverage guest insights to drive business.
  • Plan and manage organizational and operational changes.
  • Anticipate and identify changes in store trends.
  • Develop and coach Team Leaders to elevate team skills.
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations.
  • Anticipate staffing needs and recruit talent.
  • Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance as a key carrier.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Ability to manage conflict and hold others accountable.
  • Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis and decision making.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs.
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
