About The Position

The Sous Chef provides passion and leadership, while upholding Wally’s standards She/he must have the ability to manage kitchen personnel, ensure product quality, and is responsible for providing superior guest service. Sous Chef's typically work a minimum 50-hour work week, including most weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years or more food-service experience and/or training
  • Food service, or management experience preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment
  • Prolonged walking and/or standing for 8-12 continuous hours
  • Proficient computer skill level in MS office skills.
  • Experienced in various point of sale and transaction devices.
  • Ability to work on the store’s busiest days including most weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work a rotating schedule that alternates between day and night
  • Maintain regular and prompt attendance

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Food Service Manager and assists in guiding the entire kitchen hourly team.
  • Is responsible for handling HR needs of the kitchen team.
  • Foster a workplace that results in the development of a high performing team following all Wally’s policies and procedures.
  • Must be role model, leader, and mentor; must solve problems, make informed decisions, and manage the team members and time wisely in order to achieve maximum results
  • Manage the product offering, guaranteeing the food quality meets Wally’s standard, which includes but is not limited to: Popcorn, Jerky, Smoked Meats, Sausage, Pizza, BBQ, Bakery, Cold Food Prep, and Wally Dogs
  • Maintains food safety as top priority, completing all necessary forms, ensuring all food service team members are certified and following proper protocols.
  • Assists in the review of financial transactions, food cost/margins, and budgeting.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a highly effective team of food service team members.
  • Onboard and oversee training of new team members.
  • Understand and apply federal, state, and local laws in regards to foodservice and general employment matters
  • Manage food service employees, protect quality, and provide superior guest service, such as resolving customer issues quickly in friendly and professional manner
  • Assist Food Service Manager in accurate and timely completion of food service operating reports
  • Utilize and ensure proper documentation of all Wally’s policies & procedures, following the Wally’s handbook.
  • Ensure that all staff are meeting the execution of daily tasks and operational goals following Wally’s standard operating procedures.
  • Support other departments as needed
  • Professionally interact with team members.
  • Hospitality driven to ensure positive experience for all guests.
