About The Position

The executive producer manages the Rochester news producers, reporters, working closely with the news director to oversee daily newscasts and overall news content.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Communications, TV/film or equivalent experience may substitute.
• 5 years experience in television or radio broadcast/production.

• Strong news judgment, journalistic integrity and understanding of viewer needs and expectations.
• Knowledge of media production, communication and dissemination techniques and methods, including alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.
• Ability to meet quality standards for service & evaluate customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Exercise discretion and independent judgment to manage the Station's Rochester news producers and reporters.
• Gather, edit and rewrite news stories for newscasts.
• Select and prepare news items for broadcast.
• Collaborate with news producers and managers to conceptualize, produce and present content on newscasts and multiple media platforms.
• Oversee all newscast producers, making sure they meet research goals and the mission of being the go-to source for weather, breaking news and enterprise/in-depth content.
• Manage the editorial and creative development and coverage of assigned stories to MMJs and producers.
