As an Executive Portfolio Underwriter, you will drive profitable renewal retention while delivering a high degree of customer satisfaction within assigned territory. You'll collaborate and consult with Sales Underwriting partners in executing renewal strategy for the existing portfolio as well as on complex or flagged renewals in alignment with retention goals. Ability to apply advanced level Underwriting, Sales, and Distribution Management skills to support overall book management. The company offers a competitive compensation plan and robust benefits package for full time regular employees which for this role include: Base Salary Range: $97,000 - 176,000. Requirements

  • 7+ years inland marine insurance underwriting experience preferred.
  • Able to work independently in an entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build superior partnerships with agents and brokers through proactive and consultative service on accounts.
  • Analyze renewals, determine acceptability of renewal risk in accordance with Company guidelines and practices in order to make profitable underwriting decisions.
  • Apply underwriting guidelines and appetite to risk selection and pricing.
  • Consult and negotiate with agents to package appropriate solutions to meet the needs of the insured while ensuring profitable outcomes for BFM.
  • Collaborate with Sales Underwriters and underwriting teams to maintain a healthy book of business consisting of varied inland marine and property classes, risk size, and complexity.
  • Evaluate underwriting performance based on financial analysis. Includes rate, reserve adequacy, operational execution, planning and product reviews.
  • Prepare reports to management concerning quality, quantity, and profitability of risks renewed and non-renewals.
  • Serve as mentor and consultant to other underwriters in areas of subject matter expertise.
  • Consult with management on risks exceeding authority level or requiring special handling.
