About The Position

FOX 12 Oregon, the #1 local news station in the Portland market, is hiring an Executive Reporter to help guide coverage for their award-winning newscasts, mentor and grow storytellers in their newsroom, and provide dynamic leadership to their reporting team. The Executive Reporter will lead by example, managing reporters with hands-on guidance about researching, interviewing, writing, and executing all aspects of their jobs, while working with the News Management Team to set and fulfill goals for the whole newsroom.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism or related field preferred, or equivalent training and/or experience.
• At least 5 years of experience as a General Assignment Reporter.
• Strong editorial, writing, and storytelling skills and working knowledge of newsroom systems, like ENPS
• This position requires the employee to be able to drive for business needs. A valid driver's license and clean driving record (MVR) are required.

Responsibilities

• Taking a leadership role in determining content and coverage plans for the newsroom... from developing story ideas in the editorial meetings through execution in the field and in the newscasts
• Working with reporters and field crews daily on content development strategies, storytelling techniques, and ideas for active live shots
• Leading coverage on major stories by gathering, writing, and delivering content on air
• Fostering a team environment and maintaining a positive, inclusive culture in the newsroom
• Performing other duties as assigned.
