Requirements

  • Minimum of five years general sales experience, direct experience in hotel sales a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree related to sales and hospitality required; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Previous Hotel Sales experience (preferably with a national brand, with a proven track record for success in sales and revenue generation).
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of current vehicle insurance required.
  • Reliable transportation for travel to regional locations, traveling by vehicle or air to various locations, conferences, etc.
  • Strong leadership, management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, organization, time management, and listening skills.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, SalesPro or Delphi, etc.
  • Ability to present professionally and persuasively to individuals and groups.
  • Sound knowledge of the product and services offered.
  • Ability to work independently with self-confidence, energy, and enthusiasm.
  • Develop sales relationships within the community.
  • Use analytical skills for measuring business potential and value to the hotel.
  • Interact with all levels of customers and hotel management.
  • Ability to motivate team members to work as a team to ensure service meets appropriate OHM and brand standards.
  • Handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend appropriate solutions to challenges.
  • Deliver results and work well with, motivate, and maintain tact and diplomacy with a variety of personality types.
  • Multitask and prioritize, managing competing deadlines.
  • Model behaviors to effectively motivate, lead, and develop the team.
  • Comfortable with a high level of visibility and leadership role within the hotel and community.
  • Exceptional service skills with a strong ability to foster effective relationships with all levels of staff, management, and clientele.
  • Light Work: Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and a negligible amount constantly to move objects. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
  • May be required to lift in excess of 40 pounds on occasion.
  • Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, picking/pinching with fingers, typing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motion.
  • General interior office environment with minimum distraction primarily from phones and brief interruptions.
  • Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

Responsibilities

  • Book and details group rooms and catering events.
  • Solicit and service accounts.
  • Maintain existing accounts through excellent relationship building.
  • Make outside sales calls to prospective and current clients.
  • Manage proactive sales-related activities and exceed weekly goals.
  • Maximize and enhance room and catering revenues to meet and exceed monthly goals.
  • Build solid business relationships with local companies, create innovative means for attracting and retaining groups while maximizing profitability and generating revenue.
  • Embrace O’Reach, Green Team, Guest Service, Team Member Satisfaction, Health & Wellness, and Safety culture.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
