About The Position

The Executive Lean Leader is responsible for the design, adoption, functional-leadership, and execution of the enterprise-wide Lean transformation within the Imaging Segment of GE HealthCare which generates revenues of $9B annually. The Executive Lean Leader is a key member of the Segment Leadership team, contributing to the overall strategy of how we run, change, and act in the business, as part of our Heartbeat Business System principles and processes. This role is critical to driving the cultural change required to move GE HealthCare to a true Lean organization with our Heartbeat Business System, while driving tangible business value. The Executive Lean Leader will lead impactful operating routines and drive execution of critical projects. This role is based in Waukesha, WI. Our Heartbeat Business System is based on Lean thinking and practices and will be an integral part of the way we run, change, and act in our business for the long-term, and each Executive Lean Leader contributes to this progression within their part of the organization. The Executive Lean Leader will focus on selecting, supporting, and assisting the improvement efforts tied to the Imaging Segment’s most critical business processes (e.g. Hoshin Kanri / Big Rocks), primarily in the innovation (STO), commercial, integrated supply chain, and service areas. Through analyzing work at the genba with our people, diagnosing our challenges, and testing out process improvements to an action plan, the Executive Lean Leader will demonstrate continuous improvement and breakthrough performance ultimately shaping the company culture and brand. The goal is to positively impact results and culture by establishing standards, institutionalizing daily management processes, adopting consistent problem-solving methods, and executing on hoshin kanri / Big Rock priorities. As a key interface to the Office of Heartbeat central team, you will help strengthen the and develop the evolving Heartbeat Business System. As an Executive Lean Leader, you will help develop people and leader capability in the Heartbeat fundamentals of standard work, daily management system, problem solving, kaizen, value stream mapping, and action planning, with a growth mindset to enable culture change. This will require significant change management to effectively embed throughout the organization. Development and deployment of the Heartbeat Business System will result in improved EBITDA and Free Cash Flow

Requirements

  • BS or BA Degree; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum 10 years in experience in General Management or lean/operational leadership role
  • Minimum of 7 years of capability building with a variety of Lean practices including Hoshin Kanri, problem solving, daily management system, standard work, and value stream mapping

  • Ideally built and/or designed an organizational management system
  • Ideally developed the playbook for the core processes of an organizational business system
  • Ability to accurately assess key business metrics and situations from a general manager’s or executive leader’s perspective
  • Deep actual experience with lean principles and practices
  • Excellent time and project management skills
  • Technical expertise - Possess the technical skills necessary to be credible with significant practitioner experience in the Lean tools and techniques
  • Proven ability to quickly bring order and structure to Big Rocks and other critical programs as a key team member through the various segments, regions, and functions in the organization
  • Demonstrated successful leadership and proficiency in installing and sustaining a Lean system for a global organization with operations and services teams
  • Growth mindset with hands-on approach
  • Commercial experience for focus on customer and end user experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall Lean leadership at the Segment level and drive the Lean transformation by serving as a champion, coach, and mentor for change.
  • Support the development and activities of the Heartbeat Business System, including bootcamps, leader coaching, training on Heartbeat fundamentals, and more
  • Install the Heartbeat fundamentals into how we run the business, including the Heartbeat fundamentals of standard work, daily management system, problem solving, kaizen, value stream mapping, and action planning
  • Mentoring the Segment team of 15+ Heartbeat Lean Leaders across the organization
  • Establish a lean capability program which ensures the application of globally recognized standards for lean principles and practices, serves as a benchmark for achievements, and provides a common roadmap for continuous improvement and people development
  • Develop capability across the spectrum from the tactical (deployment and application of principles, concepts, and methods) to the strategic (a transformation that deeply impacts a key value stream) with effective change management
  • Partner with global business stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and execute improvement opportunities through Kaizen events and Lean initiatives.
  • Co-lead Imaging Segment operating rhythms (operating reviews, long term strategy, priorities planning) in partnership with subject-matter experts and senior leaders
  • Demonstrate and commit to servant leadership and partnership with peers and leaders
  • Align behaviors and practices to our shared Cultural Operating Principles and Heartbeat Behaviors
