About The Position
A warm, casual, and professional family on the Upper East Side is seeking a dedicated and experienced executive housekeeper/nanny to become a long-term, integral part of their household. The ideal candidate genuinely enjoys caring for both a home and a school-aged child, takes initiative, and is looking to grow with a family over time. Both parents work primarily outside the home and are seeking a reliable, proactive individual to confidently manage the household and provide thoughtful after-school care for their happy, curious 8-year-old son. With limited nearby family support, they are seeking a dependable person who can become an extended family member and take ownership of daily household operations. Schedule Guaranteed minimum: 40 hours per week, with potential overtime Typical hours: 11am – 7pm Childcare focus: Approximately 2:45pm – 7pm (school pickup and evenings) Flexibility is appreciated, as some weeks may require additional hours
Requirements
- Experience caring for elementary-aged children (older children experience preferred)
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a household independently
- Proactive, responsible, and detail-oriented
- Warm, kind, emotionally intelligent, and professional
- Comfortable balancing childcare and housekeeping responsibilities
- CPR certified
Nice To Haves
- Swimming experience preferred but not required
- Italian language skills a plus, not required
- Bonus: experience working with Jewish families or familiarity with kosher-style cooking (no pork; guidance provided)
Responsibilities
- School pickup and transportation to scheduled after-school activities (Upper East Side)
- Providing engaging, age-appropriate care for an energetic and sweet 8-year-old boy
- Assisting with homework and evening routines
- Encouraging independence, responsibility, and good habits
- Coordinating with tutors as needed
- Creating a nurturing, structured, and supportive environment
- Full home housekeeping
- Household laundry and ironing
- Changing and washing bedding
- Periodic deep cleaning (refrigerator, shelves, baseboards, etc.)
- Home organization (closets, drawers, seasonal rotations)
- Grocery shopping (lists provided) and household errands
- Meal preparation for the child and family (simple, healthy meals; menus discussed in advance)
- Kitchen cleanup and maintenance
- Monitoring household inventory and alerting the family to supply needs
Benefits
- $40–$45/hour, commensurate with experience
