About The Position

Executive Functions, Inc., dba EF Specialists (EFS), is the most comprehensive executive function coaching company in California that is NPA certified to work with schools to provide support to a student's individual needs while also offering private/individual support to families. Our mission is to guide middle and high school students in overcoming procrastination, disorganization, and anxiety by teaching time management, prioritization, and communication skills so they feel motivated, prepared, and empowered. Our sessions are held remotely in a 1:1 setting. We are a customer-centric and growing business, with an innovative and comprehensive five-step coaching process, uniquely tailored to each student. Under general supervision, an Executive Function/SPED Specialist will perform direct client service; support students and families in developing skills and strategies to manage educational and vocational challenges; collaborate effectively with families using the family team meeting structure and process; engage in a continuous professional development cycle that includes receiving and applying feedback; effectively manage documentation of services and work; collaborate with other team members on the IEP process to facilitate successful outcomes for students Must have time flexibility to work with students, including a 4 hour window of time on the weekend.

Requirements

  • Applicants RESIDING IN CALIFORNIA and holding SPECIAL EDUCATION credential are welcome to apply.
  • Special Education Credential Preferred
  • Masters, issued by a regionally accredited post-secondary institution in education, psychology, counseling, behavior analysis, behavior science, human development, social work, rehabilitation, or in a related field is desired.
  • A minimum of three years of teaching and/or coaching experience.
  • Able to work well with students with higher level special need students (including behavioral)
  • Adept in working with school district staff
  • Has availability to work with 5-10 students weekly and maintains a minimum of 5 students
  • Consistent, dependable, and available during the academic school year (Mid-August to Mid-June). Understands that work is slower during school breaks (summer break, winter break, spring break) and takes their time off during those breaks.

  • Strong understanding and application of current research and findings in mild to moderate disabilities, emotional disabilities that may include emotional disturbance or mental health conditions, ADHD, executive functioning, gifted learning, special education including special education services, documentation procedures and assessment; and/or knowledge of behavior supports and intervention plans.
  • Ability and desire to work as part of a professional interdisciplinary team
  • Work on evenings and weekends to be responsive to parent and student availability.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Possess excellent customer service, interpersonal and written communication skills that reflect sensitivity to their audience (parents, school staff, mental health professionals)

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct service to students/clients through weekly or biweekly remote meetings in the following areas: Behavior Intervention - Design or Planning, Implementation
  • Specially Designed Vocational Education and Career Development
  • Executive Function Coaching may include the following responsibilities: reading, understanding and analyzing SPED documents (assessments, IEPs, etc.); identify a client's executive function and behavioral challenges and their underlying academic issues; create a plan of support, with goals and metrics, for student in areas of need; maintain clear and consistent communication with clients and families, including text messages, emails, phone calls and online video meetings; monitor baseline level of performance and progress; etc.
  • Attends team meetings and collaborates with other specialists and leadership team members
  • Develop collegial relationships with outside professionals to promote partnerships with school officials and outside agencies
  • Provides mentorship, coaching and support as needed to other specialists, including collaborative meetings, as needed and directed by supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
