About The Position

Senior Friendship Centers is seeking a dynamic and mission driven leader to serve as our Executive Director for Lee County operations. This leadership role will be for someone who knows Lee County deeply—its people, partners, stakeholders, and community priorities—and is ready to translate relationships into meaningful impact for older adults. Reporting to the VP of Contracted Programs, the Executive Director provides visionary, strategic, and operational leadership to advance the mission, strengthen community impact, and ensure the long-term sustainability of Senior Friendship Centers’ Lee County operations. The Executive Director will be a member of Senior Friendship Centers’ Executive Team and lead with our core values of compassion, integrity, collaboration, and respect. Applicants must live in Lee County Florida and already have deep connections within the community. This is a full-time (40 hours/week), Monday–Friday position with occasional evening and weekend outreach events. Requirements

  • Superlative communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate as a leader.

  • Excellent managerial skills and financially conversant skills with the ability to interpret key financial and operational data, and to take leadership over any department or program area.

  • Thorough understanding of management and financial practices in all areas of operations.

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in related field, or commensurate professional experience to provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and ability for satisfactory performance in this position.
  • Extensive professional experience in leadership roles and three years of experience in social, cultural, and recreational services.
  • Minimum of three years of executive experience, preferably with a non-profit organization.
  • Experience developing and executing a strategic vision and planning process, and innovative, collaborative solutions to community matters.
  • Experience as a collaborative community leader who has built and leveraged relationships in support of the community.
  • Experience in public speaking and leading presentations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer and standing.
  • Must be able to navigate various departments of a physical location.
  • Travel will be required as frequently as needed to support operations, fundraising and outreach.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance are required for all work-related travel.
  • Satisfactory clearance of a fingerprint-based, level II background screening and pre-employment substance abuse testing is required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic and Organizational Leadership: Provide visionary leadership to advance the organization’s mission, values, strategic priorities, and long-term sustainability.
  • Lead day-to-day operations of all Lee County services and sites, ensuring safe, high-quality, mission aligned programming.
  • Set annual goals, operating plans, and performance dashboards (quality, outcome, and client experience).
  • Ensure strong systems for compliance, risk management, and continuity planning.
  • Oversee Nutrition (All Counties) and Friendship at Home (Lee) programming and services to ensure quality, effectiveness, and compliance.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, funders, donors, policymakers, and stakeholders.
  • Remain current with major funding legislation, contract regulations, and policies that affect service provision and/or the scope of Senior Friendship Centers.
  • Works with VP Contracted Programs to oversee the monitoring of subcontractors for compliance with contract requirements.
  • Resolve problems in service delivery when necessary.
  • May develop and implement billing and/or tracking procedures for subcontractors.
  • Administer service contracts and grants in accordance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Responsible for interpreting, implementing, and assuring compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to appropriate programs.
  • Attend staff meetings, training, and seminars as required.
  • Must comply with all Senior Friendship Centers personnel policies.
  • Must protect the safety and health of staff, volunteers, participants, and others by observing and following the safety and incident policies in the Employee Handbook.
