About The Position

As Executive Director of HELP Haven, you’ll lead a 40-unit, clinically focused shelter that provides trauma-informed care to family and single adult gender-based violence survivors. Reporting to the VP of Gender-Based Violence Services, you’ll oversee a close-knit staff of about 40 through five direct reports who are responsible for social services, clinical services, facilities maintenance, security, and business management. The team works well together and helps each other as needed to ensure clients receive great services. You’ll need to be very hands-on and interactive with both staff and clients.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work or related field preferred, with a Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience working with gender-based violence, BIPOC, and LGBTQ survivors; crisis intervention, and safety planning.
  • Knowledge of family dynamics, strong experience with trauma-informed care, and the ability to be effective when situations may not always be black and white.
  • Management experience (5+ years), including proven recruiting, supervisory, staff development, program management, and budgetary skills.
  • Intuitive, forward-thinking, hands-on, quality-focused approach to leadership and client service.
  • Availability for “on-call” emergencies outside of regular business hours.

Responsibilities

  • Recruiting, orienting, managing, and evaluating all program staff and providing meaningful training and supervision to ensure that all clients are healthy, safe, and provided with quality services at all times.
  • Developing and nurturing an environment that fosters staff satisfaction and retention.
  • Ensuring that all units are filled by networking with a variety of resources.
  • Engaging in community outreach to secure services and lead advocacy through collaboration, linkages, in-kind donations, and other community resources for residents and survivors.
  • Maintaining a strong, positive relationship with the program’s funder, HRA.
  • Ensuring that the facility is maintained in a safe, clean, and sanitary manner at all times and that the facility complies with all relevant local, state, and federal requirements as well as HELP operating policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring complete and timely documentation of all case files using the electronic case management system.
  • Preparing the facility budget on a timely basis and ensuring that all purchases of goods and services are within the established budget and are processed on time and in accordance with HELP policies.
  • Engaging in community outreach to secure service linkages, in-kind donations, and other community resources for residents.
