Summary: The Executive Director, HEOR leads a team of doctorate-level professionals responsible for driving U.S. market access through strategic health economics and outcomes research initiatives across the BMS portfolio. This role shapes and executes high-impact HEOR strategies—spanning economic modeling, real-world data, and FDAMA 114-compliant evidence to support brand and medical plans across multiple therapeutic areas, including hematology, oncology, cardiovascular, immunology, and cell therapy.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree required - PhD, PharmD, MS, MPH - with a minimum of 10 years in the biopharmaceutical industry
  • 5+ years’ experience managing a team in a matrixed environment; with demonstrated skills in influencing and leading through change.
  • In depth knowledge of the US healthcare landscape and access issues from a Medical perspective are critical
  • Strategic thinker with an enterprise mind
  • Strong business acumen, and high emotional intelligence
  • Demonstrated ability to define customer needs, research questions and address specific issues identified by business owners
  • Thorough understanding of research methods, health economics, and related disciplines
  • Strong communication skills, including amongst cross-functional stakeholders, and a drive for results is required
  • Experience in change leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to attract, lead, inspire and motivate a diverse team
  • Travel as need for customer engagements (approximately 20-30%)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in field HEOR a plus.
  • Launch expertise across Oncology, Cardiovascular, Immunology, Neuroscience, and Cell Therapy is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Field HEOR strategy and execution for the entire US BMS portfolio of products within the US market
  • Leads strategic development of field HEOR plan that is both product specific & customer segment focused and in appropriate alignment with US access strategy for each product across the BMS portfolio
  • HEOR value demonstration strategy across segments including Payors, GPOs, Institutions, Pathway bodies, and decision making groups within the US healthcare landscape.
  • Strategically councils on robust evidence generation programs, high-quality and compliant proactive and reactive publications and tools
  • As a senior leader in the US Field Access organization, this individual will interface directly with the MAx leadership team and US commercial leadership to ensure close collaboration, strategic value communication, and bi-directional communication on strategy and tactics
  • Work closely with the WW HEOR TA Leads and Medical Disease Area Head to drive excellence and support execution of Access strategies
  • Collaborate with Commercial Leadership to integrate Field HEOR plans
  • Collaborate with all matrix partners to ensure flawless execution on post approval activities
  • Evaluates new access customer engagement, data, and EQ capabilities to meet the needs of the evolving healthcare landscape, data generation and communication for successful commercialization and access
  • Makes recommendations on external collaborations, profile organizations, and researchers for appropriate expertise
  • Leads internal stakeholder discussions to educate and inform Development and Medical colleagues regarding access issues, with the goal of ensuring that Medical Plans include HEOR studies and RWE as appropriate
  • Oversee collaborative research plans across the portfolio to ensure impactful customer research occurs where appropriate and alignment to the integrated evidence plans.
  • Lead the fHEOR team in building and maintaining a high performing commercially aligned team that promotes open access for BMS therapies across the US healthcare landscape.
  • Directly manage the field HEOR team leads who manage the field scientists
  • Measure Field HEOR performance and impact, and communicate performance metric back to the organization
  • Mentors and coaches rising talent to assume future leadership roles
  • Ensure a collaborative, open, and positive culture within the team

  • Eligibility Disclosure: The summer hours program is for United States (U.S.) office-based employees due to the unique nature of their work. Summer hours are generally not available for field sales and manufacturing operations and may also be limited for the capability centers. Employees in remote-by-design or lab-based roles may be eligible for summer hours, depending on the nature of their work, and should discuss eligibility with their manager. Employees covered under a collective bargaining agreement should consult that document to determine if they are eligible. Contractors, leased workers and other service providers are not eligible to participate in the program.
