About The Position

The Executive Director Special Events Facilities provides administration, leadership, management, and supervision of the operations of the large public assembly venues (College Park Center, Texas Hall, and the UTA Box Office-utatickets.com). Business development for facilities. The annual salary for this position ranges from $110,500 to $140,000. The final offer will be based on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Seven (7) or more years of progressively responsible experience in venue management or a related field, or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience in similar role.
  • Experience should include at least one of the following: NCAA sports facilities, performing arts facilities, or publicly owned or operated venues or conference & meeting facilities.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in business development or sales for venues or performance halls, including direct work with promoters, booking agents, direct client booking and touring entertainment acts.
  • Experience with ticketing platforms (AXS, TM1, etc.) and event management software (Momentus, etc.).
  • Knowledge with facility/large public assembly venue management.
  • Knowledge of business development (sales).
  • Budget analysis, preparation, and monitoring skills.
  • Professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge in Life safety and building code compliance.
  • Professional decision-making, negotiating, and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of industry trends and best practices; and
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree.
  • Experience with large (5,000 +) arenas.
  • Experience with professional sports teams.
  • Familiarity with WNBA security and game-day protocols.
  • International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) involvement/certifications e.g. Graduate of Venue Management School, Certified Venue Executive, etc.
  • Experience in a higher education environment.

Responsibilities

  • Drive revenue and sales through planning, booking, contracting, marketing, and promotions.
  • Cultivate partnerships with a broad client base, including NCAA Athletics, campus departments, entertainment promoters and brokers, the Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), and corporate partners.
  • Oversee venue operations, event scheduling, and issue resolution to ensure smooth execution and excellent guest experiences.
  • Manage improvements, maintenance, and capital projects to uphold premier venue standards.
  • Develop and manage budgets, oversee internal controls, optimize resources, and identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining sustainable reserves and capital renewal funds.
  • Lead a collaborative, high-performing culture that drives results, accountability, and alignment with the University's mission and goals.
  • Develop and execute long-term business and operational strategies, integrate industry best practices, and ensure full compliance with University, NCAA, and regulatory standards.
