About The Position

Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC is seeking an Executive Director, Risk/ Policy Mgmt in Baltimore, MD to analyze and develop risk policies and procedures, identify trends and areas of emerging risk, and implement process improvements. Handle risk control assessments, business continuity, and crisis management planning. Collaborate cross functionally with subject matter experts to enhance the Firm’s risk management framework, tools, and governance practices. Contribute to the design and execution of resilience strategies, and support internal and regulatory risk reporting requirements. Ensure operational stability and effective risk mitigation across key business platforms. Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field of study.
  • Requires seven (7) years of experience in the position offered or seven (7) years as a Vice President, Assistant Vice President, Senior Associate, Associate, Risk Management, Risk Consulting, or a closely related occupation.
  • Requires seven (7) years of experience with the following skills: Operational Risk Frameworks and Risk identification methodologies; Control design and testing; Crisis Management and Business Continuity Planning; Process Optimization and Risk-Based Process Mapping; Business Resilience Strategies and Systems Risk Assessments; Data Analysis for Risk Trend Identification and Reporting; Risk and Control Assessment Methodologies; Risk Management tools and Repositories; financial products, markets, and regulatory expectations; Retail Brokerage and Investment Advisory programs; Cross-functional communication and stakeholder engagement in risk contexts; and Six Sigma process efficiency methodology.

Responsibilities

  • Execute Crisis Management, Risk & Control Assessments, Control Design & Testing, and Process Optimization.
  • Monitor and report on business metrics to identify patterns, trends, and areas where increased management attention is warranted to ensure timely completion of strategic objectives.
  • Analyze and develop Operational Risk Policies, Procedures, Risk Management Tools, and Data Repositories, to continuously improve the Risk and Control Framework.
  • Manage Technology and Business Stability Risks.
  • Engage with subject matter experts and third parties to ensure resilience priorities are addressed and incorporated.
  • Develop and promote expertise in Financial Products and Markets, Retail Brokerage, Investment Advisory programs, Banking Products, Capital Markets, and Key Regulation impacting Financial Services Industry.
