About The Position

The Executive Director of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence at the University of Georgia will lead the institute in advancing AI academic programs and research. This role requires a visionary leader with a strong background in artificial intelligence and machine learning, capable of fostering multidisciplinary collaborations across various fields. The successful candidate will oversee a team and work closely with university administration to enhance the institute's impact on education, research, and community outreach.

Requirements

• An earned doctorate in Computer Science or related disciplines.
• A sustained record of scholarly accomplishment in Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning, including peer-reviewed publications and external grant funding.
• At least two years of administrative leadership experience.

• Significant extramural research support, preferably from multiple federal agencies.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with faculty and university administration to develop a plan to grow and advance AI at UGA.
• Recruit, mentor, retain, and evaluate the faculty of the Institute.
• Oversee the budget and human resources of the Institute.
• Increase research funding in the Institute to support faculty research projects and a growing graduate program.
• Work with development staff to seek philanthropic support for the Institute.
