About The Position

Arizona Western College is seeking a dynamic leader to oversee and elevate our Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement training programs. As the Executive Director of Integrated Public Safety Education, you'll guide high-impact programs, strengthen workforce partnerships, and shape the future of public safety training in our region.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher in Public Safety, Emergency Management, Administration of Justice, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in fire, law enforcement, EMS, or emergency management
  • Proven experience in developing and managing multi-agency training programs and facilities
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with public agencies, community organizations, and college administration
  • OR An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and
  • abilities have been achieved may be considered
  • Arizona Driver's License or Equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required; language proficiency must be demonstrated on application materials
  • Advanced certifications are preferred but not required. Candidates with advanced experience or certifications should provide supporting documents with application materials. Examples of advanced public safety leadership certifications include but are not limited to: Executive Fire Officer (NFA), Command College, FBI National Academy, or an equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Serves Students.
  • Provides Strategic Leadership: Oversees and integrates Fire, EMS, and Law Enforcement training programs to ensure consistent quality, compliance, and innovation.
  • Develops district-wide strategic plans that promote public safety excellence and student centered learning across all levels of instruction-from foundational academies to command level leadership.
  • Collaborates with Industry Leaders: Partners with local, regional, and tribal public safety agencies to identify evolving workforce needs and co-develop advanced training programs in supervision, management, tactics, and emergency operations.
  • Leads advisory committees and interagency working groups to ensure programs remain current and responsive.
  • Curriculum & Accreditation Oversight: Ensures alignment of all Fire, EMS, and LETA curricula with applicable regulatory bodies (AZPOST, NREMT, NFPA, DHS, etc.).
  • Oversee curriculum design, implementation, and updates, integrating applied learning, use-of-force simulations, and leadership development modules.
  • Support and participate in strategic planning initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
