About The Position

The Executive Director of Extended, Professional, and Continuing Education (EPaCE) is a leadership role responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and oversight of both programmatic initiatives and administrative operations in Extended, Professional and Continuing Education. Extended, Professional and Continuing Education (EPaCE) develops and delivers innovative and financially self-supporting academic and educational programs to extend Cal Poly’s reach to market opportunities beyond its traditional University programs.

Requirements

  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy to effectively handle a broad range of high-level and sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse personalities, and to respond appropriately to conflicts and problems.
  • Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in and outside the University with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds.
  • General knowledge of the principles, practices and trends of the field of extension programming and self-support operations.
  • Demonstrated skill in developing business cases, conducting program viability analysis, and preparing financial performance reports for senior leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and five years of progressively responsible professional experience in developing, managing, administering, and sustaining educational programs.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory experience with demonstrated responsibility for hiring, performance management, team development, and engagement.
  • Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

  • Demonstrated skills in an institutional/educational environment utilizing a customer-oriented and service-centered attitude.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with campus specific applications including PeopleSoft student records/student financials, PolyData Dashboards, Lumens or other registration/enrollment software, Podio.
