About The Position

The Executive Director of Community and Cultural Engagement (EDCCE) will work with a team of professionals to promote a campus environment where all students matter, belong, and thrive. Serving as a senior leader in the Division of Campus Life, the EDCCE will provide strategic vision and oversight for the Office of Civic & Community Engagement (OCCE), Intercultural Center, LGBTQ+ Center, and Women’s Center. The EDCCE will work collaboratively to lead a broad range of strategic programs and initiatives, including dialogue programs, community partnership development, and co-curricular experiential learning. This position will partner with the Assistant Vice President of Campus Life for Community & Engagement to meet the needs of students and constituent groups across the Wake Forest community and design opportunities for students to embody Pro Humanitate at home and in the world.

Requirements

Master’s degree in student personnel, higher education, counseling, organizational behavior or similar field; seven to ten years of relevant student affairs experience, including progressive management responsibilities.
Knowledge of and a professional commitment to student development and effective higher education administration practices.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, community members, and other partners.
Superior written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present views in a clear and compelling manner.
Exceptional project management skills to include the ability to plan ahead, prioritize, organize and lead multiple, concurrent initiatives, and see a project to successful completion.
Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office/Google Suite applications and experience in effectively creating documents, reports and presentations.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed and appropriate.
Ability to create, interpret and apply policy and procedures established within the University and Division of Campus Life.
Knowledge of student learning and operational assessment processes and procedures.
Demonstrated ability to think critically and proactively problem-solve.

Nice To Haves

PhD, EdD, or terminal degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field.
Ten years of progressive responsibility.
Experience leading an office or unit in a higher education setting.

Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with Campus Life leaders to develop, implement, and assess a strategic vision for Community & Cultural Engagement in alignment with the Division of Campus Life Strategic Vision.
Supervise the Director of the Office of Civic & Community Engagement and advance a comprehensive vision for community-based experiential learning, including volunteer opportunities, election engagement, service traditions, and project-based learning.
Supervise the Director of Community Partnerships and Experiential Learning and provide support and strategic guidance to community-based teaching and learning through the ACE Fellows Program, ACE course designation, and mini-grant program.
Supervise the Director of the Intercultural Center, Director of the LGBTQ+ Center, and Director of the Women’s Center to advance campus programming, discussion groups, resources, and other learning opportunities related to community and belonging.
Ensure ongoing evaluation of learning outcomes, performance measures, and impact in pursuit of leadership, community, and civic engagement strategic goals.
Develop policies, systems and processes to manage risk and compliance related to large-scale events, community partnerships, student safety and wellbeing, and service engagement with minors.
Collaborate with identity centers to support student identity development, cultural engagement, and learning.
Cultivate opportunities to honor students’ individual stories and strengths while also connecting to a shared experience as Wake Foresters.
Oversee a comprehensive strategy for dialogue at Wake Forest University, including opportunities to facilitate difficult conversations and promote perspective-taking, mutual understanding, and communication skills.
Oversee a comprehensive approach to democratic and election engagement, including voter registration, mobilization, and education, and opportunities for civic action.
Develop pathways for community and belonging through The Forest, Wake Forest’s comprehensive approach to residence life.
Serve on a variety of committees within the Community & Engagement area, the Division of Campus Life and the university community.
Develop and implement an assessment strategy for the departments reporting to EDCCE; develop storytelling opportunities to share the impact of community and cultural engagement at Wake Forest.
Assist in building a culture of engagement and performance for the Community & Engagement teams; support professional development and teambuilding across the area.
Provide data, analysis, and thought partnership to the Assistant Vice President of Campus Life for Community & Engagement.
