About The Position

The Executive Director of Campus Recreation at the University of Pittsburgh will provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for campus recreation programs and services. This role is pivotal as the university prepares to open a new Recreation and Wellness Center in 2025, which will serve as a transformative space for student wellness and community engagement. The executive director will oversee a professional staff and a significant budget while collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance the well-being of the campus and surrounding communities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Seven or more years of experience in collegiate athletics or campus recreation.
• Progressive experience managing a dynamic campus recreation/wellness organization.
• Experience with multiple facilities and programs, staff supervision, and budget management.
• Certifications in First Aid and CPR.

• Master's degree in a related field.
• University experience.
• Experience with inclusive and adaptive fitness programming.
• Engagement in NIRSA-Leaders in Collegiate Recreation professional association.

Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership and innovation for campus recreation programs.
• Oversee the management of recreation and wellness facilities.
• Supervise a professional staff of about 20, including three direct reports.
• Manage a fee-generated operating budget of approximately $3 million.
• Advance innovative well-being programs and recreational services, including club sports and intramurals.
• Collaborate with the student wellness team and campus partners to promote community well-being.
