About The Position

The Executive Director of Business Development is a senior growth leader responsible for accelerating profitable growth and enterprise value in a private equity–backed home health organization. This role owns the strategy and execution of organic growth initiatives, market expansion, referral and payer optimization, and scalable growth infrastructure. The Executive Director operates with a strong financial and data-driven mindset, partnering closely with the CEO, CFO, operations, and private equity sponsors to drive EBITDA, new and existing market expansion, margin improvement, and exit readiness. This role is being offered as Hybrid throughout all of our Texas locations - you must reside in the state of Texas to be considered.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in business development, growth, or commercial leadership within home health, post-acute care, or healthcare services.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to connect growth initiatives to EBITDA and valuation impact.
  • Deep understanding of home health referral dynamics, payer economics, and regulatory considerations.
  • Highly analytical, metric-driven, and execution-focused leadership style.
  • Executive presence with the ability to influence C-suite leaders, boards, and private equity sponsors.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced environments with aggressive growth targets and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Growth Strategy & Value Creation
  • Develop and execute a PE-aligned growth strategy focused on revenue acceleration, EBITDA growth, and market share expansion.
  • Identify and prioritize key growth levers including referral density, payer mix optimization, service line expansion, and geographic growth.
  • Own multi-year growth plans aligned to the private equity value creation plan (VCP).
  • Market Expansion & Scalability
  • Lead market entry and expansion strategies, including de novo growth, service line launches, and scalable organic initiatives.
  • Partner with operations and clinical leadership to ensure growth initiatives are operationally executable and margin accretive.
  • Build standardized, repeatable business development playbooks to support rapid scaling across markets.
  • Referral Network Optimization
  • Drive disciplined referral development strategy focused on high-performing referral sources, case mix improvement, and predictable volume.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with hospitals, health systems, ACOs, physician groups, and community partners.
  • Oversee referral analytics to monitor conversion rates, referral leakage, and performance by market and source.
  • Payer Strategy & Contract Optimization
  • Partner with the CFO and contracting teams to support managed care negotiations, payer strategy, and reimbursement optimization.
  • Support value-based care and alternative payment model initiatives aligned with margin and growth objectives.
  • Analyze payer performance and profitability to inform contracting and growth decisions.
  • Data, KPIs & Performance Management
  • Establish and manage KPIs, dashboards, and reporting to track growth performance, referral trends, payer mix, CAC, and ROI.
  • Use data to drive accountability, allocate resources, and course-correct underperforming markets or initiatives.
  • Prepare growth performance materials for executive leadership, board meetings, lenders, and private equity sponsors.
  • Team Leadership & Operating Discipline
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing business development organization with clear roles, metrics, and incentives.
  • Implement performance management and compensation structures aligned to private equity growth objectives.
  • Foster a results-oriented culture emphasizing execution, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Compliance, Risk & Governance
  • Ensure all business development activities comply with federal and state regulations, including Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, CMS Conditions of Participation, and managed care requirements.
  • Partner with compliance and legal teams to proactively manage growth-related regulatory risk.
  • Executive & Board Engagement
  • Serve as a senior leader in strategic planning, annual budgeting, and long-range forecasting.
  • Act as a primary interface with private equity sponsors on growth strategy, performance, and market insights.
  • Contribute to exit readiness by building scalable growth infrastructure, documented processes, and durable referral relationships.
